Program Description

Description

Senior Series is a series of conversations with local experts focused on the unique and complex housing related issues facing mature homeowners and their families.  This month’s topic is: Artificial Intelligence & Protecting Yourself From Scams.

You’ve probably heard about artificial intelligence. Maybe you’ve even used it without realizing it. But scammers are using AI too, and it’s changing the landscape of fraud.  Technology like voice cloning and deepfake videos are being used to target people of all ages.

This seminar will help you understand what AI actually is, what it can and can’t do, and how scammers are leveraging it in common fraud schemes. We’ll walk through real examples and discuss practical verification strategies you can use to protect yourself and your family.

You’ll hear from Liz McNeel, Founder of the Houston Senior Living Institute and Russell Klein, Technology Coach and Owner of RK Media Services.

This program is geared toward older adults and their family members. It is free and open to the public.  No registration required.  Come for the education. Stay for the community.

Park inside the gated lot (VISITOR LOT 4).  Bring your parking ticket with you inside the library to be validated by library staff.  Parking is FREE if you get your ticket validated.  Parking outside the gated lot may result in a parking violation from the University of Houston.
