AARP is assisting patrons with free tax returns on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from February 2 - April 13. This is by appointment only (ranging from 9:30am - 2:30pm).

During this come-and-go activity time, a variety of board games, jigsaw puzzles, and more will be available for children (up through grade 8) and their caregivers to enjoy! Try out a new game and meet new friends!

Celebrate spring with a hammered flower print! Learn how to transfer the natural dyes from fresh flowers to fabric to create a unique floral print. 

Begin the new year with good food that brings luck and good fortune! Partake in traditional celebratory foods served for Lunar New Year! We’ll be talking about the symbolism behind each food and serving samples.

Representatives from the AARP will assist in the preparation of income tax returns.

Players of all ages and skill levels are invited to practice their strategies while playing against others in a relaxed stress-free environment.

Are you clever enough to solve the riddles at the Lantern Riddle table? If you are, you’ll win a prize! Visit the Chinese calligraphy table to watch the masters at work, and get “Happy New Year’ or “Blessing” or “Good Fortune” written in Chinese!

The North America Youth Chinese Association will be performing traditional Chinese music on classical stringed instruments.

The USA Tai Chi Academy will be bringing their best students to showcase the health benefits of tai chi as the beauty of the martial art. Start the year off with a new way to exercise and find zen through mindfulness!

Join us to enjoy some anime and ramen! No registration required. This program is intended for ages 14-18.  

Materials for this program are provided with the generous support of the Friends of First Colony Branch Library.  

Come on by the library to connect with your fellow peers! Have fun with others while playing a variety of Wii, card, and board games. Free snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Learn more about the ceremonial lion dance that appears at every Lunar New Year celebration! Get a chance to get up close and personal with the “lions,” take photos with the dancers, and learn how they bring the lions to life!
