Join us to screen the documentary film, Summer of Soul, with a brief discussion afterwards. This documentary highlights the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, a powerful and largely forgotten event that celebrated Black music, culture, and identity, featuring performances by legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, and Sly and the Family Stone. Directed by Questlove, the film uncovers the historical significance of the festival and its impact on the civil rights movement.  It runs 1 hour and 58 minutes and is rated PG-13. 

Park inside the gated lot (VISITOR LOT 4).  Bring your parking ticket with you inside the library to be validated by library staff.  Parking is FREE if you get your ticket validated.  Parking outside the gated lot may result in a parking violation from the University of Houston.
