Puzzle Fest 2025!

Join us for our 2^nd Annual Puzzle Fest – part speed puzzling competition, part puzzle & game swap, all fun!  We’ve added more activities this year, which means more chances to win prizes! Compete in Head-to-Head Speed Sudoku, a Rubik’s Cube Challenge, or a Puzzle Relay Race.   Casual puzzling and refreshments will also be available.

Puzzle & Board Game Swap, 1 pm - 4 pm

Tired of the jigsaw puzzles and board games you’ve got at home?  Donate your gently used puzzles and games to the library, then “shop the swap” to find new-to-you items to take home.  Bring board games and puzzles of 250 pieces or more to the 2nd floor reference desk starting Tuesday, July 1, and receive a voucher with the number of items you donated.  Bring the voucher with you on July 19 to shop the swap.  You’ll be able to take the same number of items home with you. Any unclaimed puzzles or games will be used for library programming or donated elsewhere. Please donate complete puzzles and games only.

Speed-Puzzling Competition, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Gather a team of up to 4 people for our Speed-Puzzling Competition. Teams will have 2 hours to complete a 500-piece puzzle.  The team that completes their puzzle the fastest wins! If no team completes their puzzle in 2 hours, the team with the most complete puzzle will win. The winning team will receive a prize! Registration is required for the Speed-Puzzling portion of Puzzle Fest. This competition is open to all ages. Teams can bring sorting trays and magnifiers if they like, but none will be provided.  Register here: Speed Puzzling Competition Team Registration. 

Park inside the gated lot (VISITOR LOT 4).  Bring your parking ticket with you inside the library to be validated by library staff.  Parking is FREE if you get your ticket validated.  Parking outside the gated lot may result in a parking violation from the University of Houston.
