Program Description

Description

Think you’ve got the best salsa in town?  Put your salsa where our mouths are and register to compete in our first-ever Homemade Salsa Showdown at University Branch Library!  We invite community members of all ages to show off their homemade salsas.  Whether you’re a seasoned home chef or a kitchen experimenter, this is your chance to bring the flavor and earn some bragging rights (and maybe a prize).  One lucky winner will be awarded the People’s Choice Award for Best Salsa.

Not competing?  Not a problem!  Get ready to dip, taste, and vote on your favorite local homemade salsa.  It’s free, fun, and delicious.

Rules for Entry:

  • One entry per person or team.
  • All salsas must be homemade.  No store-bought jars or mixes.
  • Any variety is welcome: red, green, fruit-based, spicy, mild, etc.
  • A list of all ingredients must be provided before September 20.
  • Competitors must provide at least 2 quarts of salsa for public tasting.

Park inside the gated lot (VISITOR LOT 4).  Bring your parking ticket with you inside the library to be validated by library staff.  Parking is FREE if you get your ticket validated.  Parking outside the gated lot may result in a parking violation from the University of Houston.
