Homemade Ice-Cream Competition

Calling all ice cream lovers!  Put your ice cream making skills to the test and enter our 2nd Annual Homemade Ice Cream Competition!  Prizes will be awarded by official staff judges, but members of the public will get to sample the entries and vote on their favorite flavor, to select a People’s Choice Award.  So, whether you’re competing for a prize or simply want to sample some free ice creams, a good time is sure to be had by all!

Competitors will register between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 18.

Please provide the flavor at registration, and your list of ingredients, if known. 

Rules & Information:

  • All entries must include the list of ingredients used.  If you don’t have a complete list at the time of registration, you will need to submit it on or before June 21.  Entries without a list of ingredients will not be accepted.   
  • For food safety, recipes must not include eggs or alcohol.
  • A minimum of 2 quarts must be provided for judging.
  • One recipe per competitor.
  • Ice cream must be brought to the library between 1:15 and 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 27.
  • Judging will be based on flavor, texture, and appearance.
  • Competitors will provide their own means for keeping their ice cream cold, and their own ice cream scoop.
  • Competitors will scoop out samples of their ice cream for the public to taste until 3 pm.

Park inside the gated lot (VISITOR LOT 4).  Bring your parking ticket with you inside the library to be validated by library staff.  Parking is FREE if you get your ticket validated.  Parking outside the gated lot may result in a parking violation from the University of Houston.
