Program Description

Description

Take a journey through the world of art along with the volunteers from Unite and Inspire, in collaboration with Fort Bend County Libraries! This art series covers the timeless creativity within impressionism, post impressionism, and pop art.  Get an in-depth history lesson with experts—then try your hand at creating your own masterpiece! You will be provided with canvas, acrylic paint, and brushes to create your own painting in the class, and then take it home with you.  Please wear clothes you will be comfortable getting paint upon.

Post - Impressionism -An art movement that emerged in France in the late 1880s and was a reaction to impressionism's focus on naturalistically depicting light and color. Post-Impressionists like Van Gogh used vivid colors, thick application of paint and real-life subject matter. They emphasized symbolic content, formal order and structure. Similar to Impressionists, they liked the artificiality of the painting. We will be painting Dutch Post- Impressionist Painter Van Gogh's still life "Vase with Irises Against a Yellow Background" 1890.

Registration is required—limited to 12 seats. Register in person, online or by calling the library at 281-395-1311.

This program is for students in grades 9-12.
