Cinco Ranch Branch Library will be closed for several weeks starting Mon, Jan 12, because we are replacing carpet throughout the building. Holds can be picked up through Thu, Jan 8 at Cinco Ranch Branch. The outdoor book drop will remain OPEN during the time the building is closed, and library items may be returned at Cinco Ranch. 

Beginning Fri, Jan 9, until the re-opening of the Cinco Ranch Branch building, all items that were requested to be held at Cinco Ranch should be picked up at Fulshear Branch library. If another location is more convenient for you, please contact Fulshear Branch on Jan 9 to reroute the items to your preferred location.

Description

Join us to listen to and learn from Gregg "Jebada" Powell, Founder and Director of Joy of Djembe Drumming.  Jebada will show and explain his drums, explain how the instruments are made and their purpose; give a history of the drum and how it fits into African culture; explain how African rhythms came to have an influence on the music of the Americas; provide a drumming demonstration of rhythms from a variety of different countries; and provide a question and answer session.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library.
